4-H Volunteers

Volunteer Screening Process

To serve as a 4-H Volunteer in Kansas, you must complete the 4-H Volunteer Screening Process. The process includes:

  1. Filling out and submitting a Volunteer Service Application (includes references & background check)
  2. Participating in a casual interview with county agent(s)
  3. Completing the 4-H Online Volunteer Orientation

Once the above steps are completed and your volunteer status is approved, you may begin working with the 4-H youth of Pawnee County. For subsequent years, an easy 1 page volunteer renewal form is submitted annually.

For all forms and screening materials, please visit the Kansas 4-H Volunteer Screening Page

Project Leader Resources

Want to help out with a project but you are not sure what is a good fit for you? Check out the Kansas 4-H Volunteer Screening Page link above. There is an interest matching form that can give you some ideas of the projects you may enjoy helping with.

A 4-H project leader is a very important person in the world of 4-H. 4-H Project Leaders:

  • help members learn skills they will use throughout life;
  • help members reach their goals;
  • serve as a role model; and
  • complete the 4-H Volunteer Screening Process

Once you are a project leader, there are many resources you can find on the State website. This Project Main Page will give the main categories of projects and allow you to find the project you are looking for. The resources for each project are somewhat different but most include what each level or age group should be learning, and what resources are available to help in leading the 4-Hers. If you need further resources or help in printing or obtaining multiple copies, please contact the Extension Office.
